Breakfast Show Announcer – Te Manawa Piharau
Keen to be the voice of our morning airwaves?
Awa FM is looking for a new host for Te Manawa Piharau, our flagship weekday breakfast show, broadcasting live from 7:00am to 10:00am, Monday to Friday.
This is a bilingual show, heard across the rohe and online, celebrating te reo Māori, te ao Māori, and the stories of our people. The role offers up to 30 hours per week and is based at our station in Whanganui.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has a passion for Māori broadcasting
- Has a high level of fluency in te reo Māori, especially the Whanganui dialect
- Understands tikanga Māori and te reo o Whanganui
- Has experience in Māori media or broadcasting
- Has strong communication and networking skills
- Can plan, report, write scripts and think on their feet
- Knows their way around a computer and broadcast software
- Has a good grasp of Māori waiata and music
- Can bring energy, insight, and authenticity to our breakfast slot
